The Division
BEC Legal Systems is hiring for a Development Manager position with responsibility for our Contour staff. Our company is in undergoing a transition from traditional client/server development on Windows to hosted Web software development using Microsoft Azure. The successful candidate will lead and mentor a team of Web, Windows, and Microsoft Office developers and will work closely with senior managers and leaders to guide development of the next generation of BEC software for the Web.
The Position We are looking for Software Development Manager​ with experience and expertise in developing robust and scalable solutions, self-directed and self-motivated individual with strong technical skills and demonstrated verbal and written skills. This person should have superior interpersonal and communications skills and has experience in working in a team-based development environment.
The chosen candidate will work out of the Contour Software Karachi resource center office, as an extension of the division-based R&D department.
Job Responsibilities:
Act as guide and mentor for BEC's development team
Collaborate with other R&D leaders to develop sprints and related metrics/reporting to ensure that assigned tasks are achievable, and that work is completed on time and to specifications
Build a culture of continuous growth and improvement within the team
Create and prioritize work items
Ensure product quality, consistency, and performance of deliverables by conducting code reviews and guiding team discussions
Develop and promote best practices for the team
Hold team lunches and other events to build and maintain team morale
Act as advocate for R&D staff by identifying opportunities for future growth, recommending promotions, etc.
Required Skills:
A track record of success in leading, training, and mentoring software developers; at least two years as a team lead or manager for Web development teams
Prior experience as a Web developer is required. Strong understanding of Web development concepts, including experience with Angular and TypeScript
Experience creating, conducting, and reviewing sprints
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A positive, diplomatic, and professional demeanor; high emotional intelligence
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge or understanding of Microsoft Azure technologies related to Web and API development
Familiarity with CI/CD and containerization concepts and toolchains
Knowledge of SQL
Nice-to-have Skills:
Experience with, or basic understanding of, Windows Forms development
Familiarity with ETL and reporting tools
Familiarity with the Office JavaScript API or Python
