THE OPPORTUNITY
Climate change presents the world with a challenge to urgently protect our planet, our economy and our populations.
The UK has set a world-leading net zero target, the first major economy to do so. Having set the target, the focus turns to delivering against that target. In the Energy White Paper 'Powering our Net Zero Future' the government has set out an ambitious programme to build a fairer greener energy system.
Flui Technologies is going through its own ambitious programme, to provide the software that will enable this change in the energy industry. We will be moving from multiple single-tenant monolithic applications, and decomposing/recombining into a cloud-native, serverless, multi-tenant architecture, with AWS the chosen platform . Java is our language of choice.

THE POSITION
As a developer, you will work in a small team under the guidance of a technical lead, working as a unit to deliver this exciting future.
You will be well versed in online application development, and any exposure or experience in AWS serverless technologies will be welcome but not necessary, you'll pick that up as you go from our tech leads. Over time you will also gain an understanding of the needs of the industry, and work to ensure that each aspect of the product is designed to meet that need.
We're obviously looking for team players, but you should also be versatile enough to roll your sleeves up and get involved in all aspects of the team delivery. This might mean in addition to coding alongside the team, but perhaps pitching in with test automation and build/deploy automation. Unit testing will be a given.
This is a step change for Flui Technologies, and an exciting opportunity to be involved in creating something new.
The chosen individual will work out of the Contour Software Karachi resource centre office, as an extension of the division-based R&D department.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work within an agile development team, pushing together to deliver high quality
• Follow best practices in development, coding standards and testing and build automation
• Be always willing to improve, be it gaining domain/product or technical knowledge
• Contribute to technical design and implementation of features in line with functional and non-functional requirements

• Strong Java programming background
• Good experience of working on online applications
• Experience with writing unit tests

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering or an equivalent qualification in another technical field
• Good AWS knowledge
• Working with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working with high volume messaging and data storage

• Good team player, yet willing to take personal responsibility for resolution of issues
